Well-known writer-director of Marathi theatre, Ashok Patole, who has written very successful family dramas like AAI RETIRE HOTE, shocked his fans by penning an adult comedy titled EK CHAVAT SADHYAKAAL (A naughty evening) recently. He further outraged everybody by declaring that the play was 'for adult males only'! The sexagenarian playwright also produces, directs and acts in this adult comedy.
Patole and Ajit Kelkar, both in their 60s, act in this play. The ban on female audience has caused quite a furore and rightly so for its gender bias. Patole justifies his stance in an interview with us.
After a run of 21 shows so far, Patole reveals that men have really enjoyed the play and their last show in Kalyan had a decent house. "And now after vehement objections by the fairer sex, we are letting in women from August 30 onward," announces Patole. The month end show will be like a bite of the the forbidden fruit!
