The 2013 edition of Tata Literature Live! The Mumbai LitFest, starting November 14-17 2013 at the NCPA, Mumbai brings to you enriching and exciting performances by some of the most celebrated performers from around the world.



On November 14, 2013:

  • On children's day, enjoy poems and illustrations by Martin Kiszko. This year Martin will bring us more poems and illustrations based on his yet unpublished sequel and offer tips on writing green poetry.

  • Gillo Repertory's play MR JEEJEEBHOY & THE BIRDS will be performed at the Sunken Garden from 5 pm - 6 pm.
On November 15, 2013:
  • Truth, Beauty and Passion a unique multi-media show specially created for Literature Live 2013. The much acclaimed Sufi singing troupe Deewana Group, will be joined by author Rani Dharker and architect Karan Grover to talk about the three pillars of the creative arts - truth, beauty and passion. A unique confluence of words, slides and Sufi songs will be a part of this discussion from 8.30-9 pm at Tata Theatre.
On November 16, 2013:
  • Listen to Daniel in 'The Price of everything' from 2-3 pm at Experimental Theatre, where he takes the audience on a tour of bizarre facts and impassioned arguments, relevant in today's world of economic despair and is comic and provocative.

  • THE TIN RING at Sunken Garden, a love story set during the Holocaust. Performed by UK's Jane Arnfield, the play is about the uplifting quality of love, even when faced with immense adversity.

  • Internationally acclaimed 'The Killing of Dussasana'. Taking two ancient dance forms, an epic poem like the Mahabarata and universal themes like gender violence, civil war and revenge, this is certainly worth a watch. The Killing of Dussasana is a trip through the past through contemporary fusion of Kathakali and Flamenco. It will be performed from 8-9.30pm at Tata Theatre.
On November 17, 2013:
  • Arthur Miller- an Actor's Godsend at Experimental Theatre from 11.15 am -12.45 pm. Alyque Padamsee will give a lecture -demonstration using actors like Rayomand Nobel, Farrokh Mehta and himself

  • ANTIGONE, brain child of the legendary Gerson da Cunha, who also plays Creon. He is joined by long time collaborator, Alyque Padamsee, and a cast consisting of the finest actors in Bombay today - Dolly Thakore, Jim Sarbh, Dilnaz Irani, and others. This will be performed at Experimental Theatre from 2-4 pm.

  • 'A Tribute to Sadaat Hassan Manto' by Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah, who will read two of Sadat Hassan Manto's most powerful pieces. As a celebration of the writer's 100th year, Naseeruddin Shah will read the seminal Toba Tek Singh, and Ratna Pathak Shah will read an essay Safed Jhoot, from 6:30-7.30pm at Sunken Garden.

  • HOW TO SKIN A GIRAFFE, a play that swings between two dynasties. This multilingual production is a philosophical conjecture on the everyday drudgery of life.Told with music, imagination, and a simple but ever evolving set. This play will performed at Tata Theatre from 8-9.30 pm.
