A new One Year Certificate Programme in Acting and Theatre, (Full Time as well as Part Time), starts from July 2014. The course will be conducted by MIDAS in association with IAPAR (International Association for Performing Arts and Research). The programmes will be conducted in Pune, India.
Midas is an organisation dedicated to foster, encourage and incubate Management, Innovation, Design, Arts & Social Sciences.
IAPAR (International Association for Performing Arts and Research) is a network of artists and arts professionals seeking to exchange ideas, increase opportunity within the arts and connect all within it.
The one year full time programme has combined practical work with a strong grounding in interdisciplinary approach. It offers multiple practical classes, workshops, scene works and productions as well as understanding of humanities and social sciences. It also offers opportunities of performances and internships to deserving students.
The part time programme has one module of three months and three modules of two months each. These are stand alone modules. One may decide to pick one or multiple modules as per their convenience.
A strong group of national and international visiting faculty will lend their expertise to these programmes. These include Ram Gopal Bajaj, Kirti Jain, Sanjay Upadhyav, Abhiram Bhadkamkar, Adil Hussain, Aniruddha Khutwad, Swanand Kirkire, Abhishek Thapa, Shrishta Sathe, Himanshu Vora, Ajay Joshi, along with a team of international associates like Lucy Richardson (the UK), M Safeer (Sri Lanka), Jeffrey Sichel (the USA). There will be other guest speakers interacting with the students too.
Last year MIDAS and IAPAR produced Shakespeare's TITUS ANDRONICUS as an outcome of a process of a four month workshop. Its second production, THE BALANCING ACT, a play in gibberish, dealing with the violence as experienced by the young children, was invited to 3rdColombo International Theatre Festival 2014, in March this year.
