As he writes about cities, Naresh Fernandes tries to bring about more life into the writing by giving perspectives that are usually sidelined, in the hope of creating a better understanding and more wholesome pieces. Naresh will share his experiences as a reporter, the helplessness of being able to cover only fragments of the stories assigned to him, working on tight deadlines and the fear of distorting the article from the truth.

Naresh believes that music and musicians, for example, often tell stories of the cities more profoundly and beautifully than words ever will. In this presentation he will stitch together his attempts to listen to urban voices in Bombay, New York and Lisbon that are usually overpowered and neglected.
