Prakriti Foundation has always been keen in hearing and staging the interesting voices that make up the diverse culture of India. The foundation wishes to showcase brilliance in music, dance, art, photography, painting and theatre, art history not just as performances but also as points of view to witness and discuss. Of the many festivals showcased annually, one of the main festivals - The Park's New Festival - showcases new and emerging work in the field of dance, music and theatre for the Indian audience.
The Park's New Festival showcases the cutting edge in contemporary performing and visual artists from around the world. Started in the year 2007 in Chennai the festival started touring six cities Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi making it the only National Contemporary Performance Arts Festival in India.
Highlights of the festival this year are contemporary dance performance THE BLACK ALBUM by the London-based Avant Garde company, led by Tony Adigun; a devised performance by Jyoti Dogra; stand-up comedy by Azeem Banatwalla, audiovisual experience FILTER COFFEE by Shriram and Swarupa, Between the Web and the Loom', an exhibition by Claire Pencak and K TWO, an improvised performance by Nicole Seiler and Kylie Walters.
This year again the festival will be held in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai from 31st October through 23rd November, 2014.
