Winners of the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META) 2015...

In its 10th year of recognising and awarding some of the best theatre in India, the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META) announces its winners for 2015. 10 plays made the final cut and were staged at the META festival in Delhi from 21st to 26th March 2015.
Malayalam play MATTHI, directed by Jino Joseph bagged most of the awards - for best production, best director, best script (Jino Joseph) and for best actor (male)- Renji Kankol.
STILL AND STILL MOVING, directed by Neel Chaudhuri from Delhi bagged the best stage (Vaibhavi Kowshik and Oroon Das) and light design (Anuj Chopra) awards.
The innovative sound design award was shared by N Tiken Singh for the play DREAMS FROM MY ROOM from Manipur and by Hitesh Dhutia for RAGE AND BEYOND: IRAWATI'S GANDHARI (from Mumbai).
CHITRAPATA from Karnataka won the best costume design. The costumes were designed by Swetha S.
Best choreography (Seujpriya and Gunakar Dev Goswami) was awarded to the Assamese play DHOU...THE WAVE, an adaptation of Hemingway's novel 'The Old Man and The Sea'.
Best Ensemble award went to the Assamese play FALL OF A KING
Best actor in a supporting role (male) was shared by Gopal Dutt and Shubrojyoti Barat for the Bangalore-based play KAUMUDI.
Best actor in a supporting role (female) was awarded to Sowmya Jain for the play CHITRAPATA.
The Best actor in a Lead role (female) was shared by Sanjukta Wagh for RAGE AND BEYOND and Swetha S for CHITRAPATA.
The jury members were Amal Allana, Neelam Mansingh, Saurabh Shukla, and Anjum Katyal.
