The Oxford University Press (OUP) has published Makarand Sathe's book on the history and the development of modern Marathi Theatre. Titled 'A Socio-Political History of Marathi Theatre...30 Nights', the three-volume set was originally published in Marathi.
The three-volume compendium is a historical analysis of Marathi theatre from a socio-political perspective. It attempts to understand the lives and relationships of mainly the middle-class people in Maharashtra-and, going beyond, even the working classes and the so-called lower castes-during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
