30 of India's youth under the age of 30 across various fields were recently awarded by Forbes India. The second edition of the 30 under 30 awards that the Forbes group has launched in India took place at the 'Tote on Turf' venue at the Mahalaxmi racecourse on 5th March 2015. The young achievers who were awarded span fields from entrepreneurship to education, social justice, law, food, fashion and the performing arts.
For theatre, Jim Sarbh and Nipun Dharamadhikari received awards while Chaitanya Tamhane received it for film. Tamhane's film 'Court' has been making news and he too has had a theatre background, though brief.
Jim Sarbh has been active as an actor in English theatre in Mumbai and last year, he also made his début as a director with Mike Bartlett's play BULL. Jim has recently acted in Masque's production of THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, a project made possible by the Aditya Birla group's theatre initiative 'Aadyam'. He has acted in Rage's production of THE GLASS MENAGERIE and in Ace's production of DEATH OF A SALESMAN, among other plays.
Nipun Dharmadhikari is one of the brighter minds of contemporary Marathi theatre. The 'Natak' theatre company that he formed with his friends launched successful plays such as CYCLE AND LOSE CONTROL and was popular in the youth theatre circuit in Pune and in Mumbai. Of late, Nipun has mounted productions reviving the Sangeet Natak tradition in Marathi theatre. His work has been staged abroad and at the Bharat Rang Mahotsav, the National School of Drama's (NSD) mega, annual theatre festival.
