Marathi Rangbhumi Festival at the Hive...

On the occasion of Marathi Rangbhumi Diwas (Marathi Theatre Day), Hive in association with Culture Shoq have curated a festival. Along with theatre performances, there will also be stage talks and play readings. The festival will take place from 5th to 8th November 2015.

5th November
  • Event: Kathak performance
  • About the event: Dancer Dhanashree Khandkar will open the festival with a Kathak performance.
    Time: 6pm
    Entry: Free

  • Event: Theatre on big Mic in Marathi
  • About the event: Culture Shoq has been organising open mics in comedy, music and poetry since quite some time now. For the first time, Hive is hosting an open mic in Marathi for theatre enthusiasts. Please send your entries to yugandhar@cultureshoq.in

  • Event: Stage talk by playwright Shaafat Khan
    About the event: He will be talking about his theatre journey, his observations about contemporary theatre and also about the current scenario of commercial and experimental theatre.

  • Event: Play reading by Omkar Bhatkar
    About the event: Mumbai-based theatre director and writer Omkar Bhatkar will be staging dramatic readings of his play titled 'Athang' (Songs of the blue sea) in Marathi.

  • Event: VARHAAD NIGHALAY LONDON LA
    About the event: VARHAAD NIGHALAY LONDON LA is written and directed by Laxman Deshpande. It will be performed by actor Sandeep Pathak. The play is about a rich father who sends his son to study in London. The son decides to marry an English girl.

    About the event: Rangkamal program based short stories of Kamal Desai will be presented by Ravindra Lakhe and Priya Jamkar

  • Event: KATHAGOI- two solo acts
    About the event: These solo acts are directed by Hemant Hazare, and will be performed by Dhanashree Karmarkar and Sunil Joshi.

    Did Inch Var is a Marathi adaption of an original story Dedh Inch Upar written by well-known Hindi writer Nirmal Verma. It narrates the conversation between a man and a fictitious character while sitting in a bar at midnight.

    Ved is written by Vijay Tendulkar. It revolves around a woman and her imaginations about her dead husband. However she thinks that her husband is not dead and starts talking to an imaginary person.
