The sixth edition of the Ananda Hindi Natya Utsav will commence on 29th April and end on 1st May 2016 at the NCPA (National Centre for the Performing Arts). The three-day festival will showcase four premiering productions by well-known theatre groups.
Deepa Gahlot, Head - Programming Theatre and Films, NCPA, says, "Being one of the most awaited theatre celebrations, Ananda Natya Utsav provides a platform to innovation and ideas in Hindi theatre. The festival features fresh talent driven by the ability to present contemporary topics in a new way.
Here is a little something about the plays:
SURAJMUKHI AUR HAMLET has been directed by Zakir Hussain. The play is a Hindi version of Jean Anouilh's 'Episode in the Life of an Author'. The drama takes a look at the life of a writer.
HAZARON KHWAB ROSHAN HAIN, directed by Jay Merchant, will highlight issues concerning today's youth. An interesting aspect about the play is that its cast comprises approximately 24 college students.
BEEWION KA MADARSA based on Moliere's SCHOOL FOR WIVES, is a comedy about a young man falling in love.
MURKHPUR is Ekjute's comedy about a village that is cursed, and which can only to be saved by a school teacher.
