Applications invited for The Aditya Vikram Birla Kalashikhar Puraskar...

The Sangit Kala Kendra (SKK) was founded in 1973 by the late Shri Aditya Birla to encourage and nurture the various performing arts. Since its inception the Kendra has been presenting prestigious art events and thereby has acquired recognition as one of the premier cultural institutions of the country.

In the year 1996, SKK instituted "The Aditya Vikram Birla Kalashikhar Puraskar" in memory of its founding President. This award is conferred on an artist in the Performing Arts for their lifetime achievement and comprises a cash award of Rs 3.0 Lakhs, a memento and a scroll of honour. The Artiste is selected by an independent jury. It will be awarded to a living, senior and reputed practicing artiste.

In addition to the above, awards of "The Aditya Vikram Birla Kalakiran" are presented to two young and promising artists in the field of the performing arts. The artists should be citizens of India, between the age of 25 to 40 years, and have a promising future. The prize comprises a cash award of Rs.75,000, a memento and a scroll of honour.

This year, it is proposed to present the awards in the field of Indian Theatre.

The award function has been tentatively scheduled for Saturday, the 19th November 2016. Nominations duly filled should reach SKK by Monday, 10th October 2016.
