The Hindu Playwriting Award 2016...

Awarded by the prominent newspaper The Hindu, this important award encourages original playwriting in English. It has been awarded this year to Thomas Manuel for his playHAMLET AND ANGAD. The award carries a prize of two lakh rupees and is given for the best script which has not been previously published or performed.

The other two shortlisted writers were Meera Sitharaman for THE CUT and Anuradha Marwah for ISMAT'S LOVE STORIES.

The plays were judged by playwrights Ramu Ramanathan and Irawati Karnik and by Rina Ramdev, an Associate Professor at Venkateswara college in New Delhi.
