NCPA presents the 7th edition of Pratibimb Marathi Natya Utsav...Featuring a selection of new Marathi plays...

The National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) presents its 7th edition of the Pratibimb Natya Utsav, which will showcase an entertaining and enriching mix of Marathi theatre. The festival was conceptualised to provide a platform and to reflect the best of contemporary Marathi theatre. Since its inception in 2010, it has been consistently bringing the best of modern Marathi theatre. To promote understanding, the programme deals with a wide variety of themes and each performance is followed by a discussion with the cast and crew of the play.
Deepa Gahlot, Head" Programming Theatre & Films, NCPA said, ''Marathi Theatre has time and again proved to be an indispensable gem of the Indian performing arts. Since we started Pratibimbh in 2010, some beautiful stories and performances have graced our stage. This time around too, we have a variety of plays that will appeal to a wider audience.''
The festival opens with the play DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY, written byMihir Rajda. The story revolves around the lives of a typical urban couple, Akshay and Pranoti, and addresses modern marriage woes like infertility, and extended family issues with a touch of gentle humor.
The second day of the festival will present three unique plays. First in line is TARKACHYA KHUNTEEVAROON NISATLELE RAHASYAwritten by Jayant Pawar and directed and enacted by Atul Pethe. The play is about a boy obsessed with finishing a mystery story left incomplete by his uncle. He gets entangled in the process of finding the answers.
The last in line for the day is a theatrical representation based on Dr. Bhalchandra Nemade's 'Kosla' and 'Dekhani' - ME, PANDURANG SANGAVIKARdirected by Mandar Deshpande.
The third day of the festival will host Vipul Mahagaonkar's play KHIDKI based on Nobel Laureate Dario Fo'sAN ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST followed by a dramatic re-telling of one of the famous Indian plays of the early 20th century EKACH PYALA in Marathi SINDHU SUDHAKAR RUM ANI ITAR, written by Ashutosh Potdar and directed by Alok Rajwade.
On the fourth day, KALAT NAKALAT, a play, written and directed by Anil Kakade will take the center stage. The story is the plight of a young orphan taking care of his mentally challenged brother and his growing attachment towards his young tenant that gets shattered after one life changing event.
On the final day of the festival, Marathi adaptation of a Gujarati play written by celebrated Gujarati playwright Madhu Rye will grace the stage in a suspense thriller -HA SHEKHAR KHOSLA KON AAHE?
