Aadyam, the theatre initiative launched by the Aditya Birla Group opened its edition this year with Rajat Kapoor's I DON'T LIKE IT AS YOU LIKE IT, followed by Sunil Shanbag's LORETTA.

The third play in the series of five is set to premiere this weekend.

LADIES SANGEET has been written and directed by writer and Kathak danseuse Purva Naresh. Through the setting of a modern wedding and a sangeet ceremony, Naresh aims to bring alive the interplay of the sexes. She will delve into the psyche of gender roles and portray various kinds of relationships in a family. The drama will, off course, have its share of music and dance, as it is an inseparable element of the Indian wedding. Conversations play an important part in the play.

''Conversations between people serve to highlight gender stereotypes and gender representation. Through these conversations we get a glimpse of the evolution of relationships and somehow veer towards the fact that the more relationships evolve with time, the more they're actually not all that far away from the traditional,'' says director Purva Naresh.

Cast: Lovleen Mishra, Joy Sengupta, Nivedita Bhargava, Siddhartha Kumar, Shikha Talsania, Ketaki Thatte and others.
