Tamaasha Theatre, which is co-founded by theatre director Sunil Shanbag and theatre writer and actor Sapan Saran, will be conducting a Theatre Jam session, this time with musicians.
Theatre Jam is a concept that aims to intersperse theatre with music and more. Essentially it becomes a workshop-cum-learning space for people who are directly or indirectly involved in theatre.
Tamaasha Theatre has conducted about four to five Theatre Jam sessions in the past notably with actors and writers. Their next session focuses on bringing musicians to interact with theatre and subsequent text.
''We choose participants from the entries that we receive. For this session, we have a mix of Hindustani classical musicians, guitarists, rhythm-based musicians and the like. We give them the text beforehand, so they could prepare a piece and attend the workshop,'' says Saran.
While this sets the ground for the workshop, the rest of the jam is spontaneous and exploratory. Sapan also adds that the Theatre Jam sessions have received a tremendous response, and they aim to conduct more sessions in the future.
The four-hour-long workshop is conducted by Sunil Shanbag, and is free of cost.
