The Metta International Theatre festival by Parivartan Foundation Mumbai and VOICE Delhi is taking place in collaboration with the Academy of Theatre Arts, Mumbai University. It will be held in Mumbai from 18th to 24th September 2016.
Metta, a word of Pali origin, resurrects union and bond with everyone, transcending the boundaries of class, colour, religion, and caste. 'Metta festival' is an attempt to bring diversity together under the forum of unity using theatre as a tool. Its aim is to foster friendship between countries and diverse cultures based on the principles of liberty, equality and fraternity, which are also the guiding principles of the Constitution of India.
Eight countries, including India will participate in the festival. The other countries are Sri Lanka, Rwanda, Mozambique, Central African Republic, USA, Armenia, and Nepal.
The theatre festival will also have other events such as "Director's Meet", "Actor's Meet", workshops and discussions along with a music show by a rock band.
The festival is likely to be graced by the presence of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis and other dignitaries and celebrities.
