I am amazed
by Arpit on Dec 28 2009 3:36PM (IST)
I am amazed at the raving reviews, which by the way compelled me to Sophia to see this. Actors weren't prepared and rehearsed despite it being the last showing of the season. Forgettable.

"DRAMA PIRACY" responsible for lack of audience at "Sophia Bhabha" on Sunday(29-11-2009)?
by Rudolph.A.Furtado on Nov 30 2009 4:59PM (IST)
Saw the play in the first row seat at “Sophia Bhabha Auditorium” on Sunday(29-11-2009) and was taken aback by the lack of an audience although the play was heavily advertised on newspapers as the costliest. It was a very bold play touching a taboo subject on “Sexual Permissiveness in Indian society” and hence i feel that the audience got restricted as some would definitely find the play offensive viewing it with their families. The character of “Raj’ really stole the show in a very colourful negative character of the “Sex Trade” as also the heroine, Poonam.Dasgupta with her sensuality. Definitely a very “ADULT DRAMA” although it got a "U" Certificate. Was "DRAMA PIRACY" responsible for an empty theatre audience? I personally feel that "DRAMA PIRACY" rather than a lack of family interest or "Sex Adult Content " of the play was responsible for the low audience turnout. Shocking to note for the first time that "Video Piracy" has overcome the last and least profitable post, the miniscule "Mumbai Theatre drama profits"."Begum Sahiba' might do a blistering business in the "Piracy video circuit" as it has all the necessary ingredients of a "Garm Drama", amusing the "C.T" as well as educated audience in the privacy of their surroundings."Begum Sahiba" has definitely set a new mark in the "Video Piracy" business, the first time that a "PIRACY" complaint has been lodged by a "Drama play" company. Previously we only heard "MOVIE PIRACY" complaints."PIRACY" will kill "Theatre Drama".

There are lot of comments on this play, mostly good. This play is getting into some contreversy with the fag commune as well. Whether it is publicity or otherwise, the curiousity of this play is building up. I am carried away with it

One of the finest Hindi plays I have ever seen. You are nearly in tears at times & burst out laughing at other times. The climax got me floored. Not to be missed.
