SUNDAYS WITH CHITRA AND CHAITALI

By MTG editorial

Inspired from the character of “Chitra” from Tagore’s “Chitrangada” as well as “Chitra” from the Mahabharata. Chitra and Chaitali have a lot in common. Both are in love with men who haven’t committed to them yet. This is the cause of their individual angst. Over a succession of four Sundays – they meet and share with each other the quirks, tribulations and the inanities of each of their relationships. Each woman wishes she could be more like the other. They find their own partners wanting, and idealise the qualities that they see in the other woman. Chitra is sleek, square jawed, athletic, bold, outspoken and free-spirited, whereas Chaitali is feminine, lithe, meek and systematic. Their ruminations over their comic Sunday evening coffees often leave them distracted during their Monday morning meetings. Are their relationship issues real or just a comic figment of the others’ imagination? How will they get their respective lovers to propose? And by the end of the fourth Sunday, do they still want them to propose?
