'Miss Phoolgulabi' is a play about three young Gujarati women in desperate situations. Gulabi has been abandoned by her husband and family because she gave birth to a 'special' girl child. Farzana has been on the streets with her old in-laws, husband and children after the family lost everything in the post-Godhara riots. Sumli is fed up of slapping her son to sleep just because there is no food to eat. The play deals with the transformation brought in their lives by Dr Prerna Gandhi, a rural doctor who practices her own brand of Gandhigiri.
An unusual journey of empowerment unfolds when one woman helps another and the helped woman helps the helper right back... When local politicians and international media take interest in the journey, it snowballs into a movement that can't be ignored. The result is an uplifting story of the 'never-say-die' spirit of these women.
