Based on a novel by Shri Gyan Chaturvedi, BARAMASI is all about dreams , expectations , disappointments and failures. But dreams are paramount in spite of all the favourable or unfavourable conditions. The story travels through the 60's of the rural Indian society. The play revolves around the Dubey family and its members.

Amma (a widow) , Gucchhan (a firm believer of God), Chuttan (a hardcore fan of Dharmendra), Lallan (who wants to be a dacoit), Chandu ( who wants to be a doctor), Binno (getting older and still dreaming to get married). The most important member of the family is Mamaji (a retired railway t.c.). The play opens with the concern of Binno's marriage. Amma is really worried about her daughter and also about her three sons who have not finished their education. Her only hope is her youngest son Chandu who is brilliant in his studies .

She dreams of Chandu becoming a doctor and feels that he will rid the family of its poor financial condition. But after achieving his goal, Chandu leaves the family…With all the twists and turns in Gucchhan, Chuttan and Lallan's lives, not to mention Binno's marriage and the sudden demise of Mamaji, the play represents the problems of a rural middle-class, Indian family in a satirical way.
