Mr. Tengshe, the protagonist, being the son of a motorman, is not only a regular traveler but has a very close association with the train right from his birth. His life has been fully captured and gripped by the train experiences. He experiences severe nightmares with train still it is an inevitable part of his life. He represents a typical mediocre class who remain just a passive observer of all the disastrous happenings. He finds himself miserable and helpless as he can not react to them. Being a writer he is stuck in a dilemma whether to react through actions or his words. He is trying hard to react in any possible way to come out of his piercing guilt complex.
