Cadence Theatre Mumbai feels that acting is the most liberal form among all creative forms wherein an actor gets a chance to live many lives and experience different worlds. The group seeks to encourage not only actors but also other professionals and housewives as well to participate in the theatre process.
Cadence Theatre Mumbai's Founder Sahasrangshu S Bhattacharjee took the initiative to form an independent theatre group in 2009 where people from all walks of life, who have the passion for theatre and acting in particular, could come, join, and realise their dream. Likeminded people gathered together and after 9 months of struggle and rehearsal, they named the group as Cadence Theatre Mumbai and staged their first play on 16th January 2010 which was later announced as Cadence`s official birthday.
Within a span of 8 years, more than 50 stage plays have been staged, the group claims. They have received a memento from AMC (Association of Medical Consultants) and the Tata Memorial Hospital for staging the play SENSELESS on tobacco addiction.
Cadence Mumbai organises theatre workshops and will also be launching "Pegasus"- an intercollegiate drama competition in Mumbai.
Sahasrangshu says: "It was my aspiration for acting and passion for theatre, which gave birth to Cadence Theatre Mumbai and gradually it become a platform for many aspiring artists. My years of experience with the corporate industry as well as my acting and theatre experience have tremendously helped to shape Cadence in all aspects, which as a result has made Cadence unique , innovative and well organised."
