Masterclass on Postcolonial African Literature.

A talk by Mala Pandurang

The African novel in English is a rich and complex body of literature which unfortunately has not received due visibility in Indian academics. This presentation will offer an overview of the social-political origins of modern African writing, in order to contextualize how this body of writing has been intrinsically bound up with the Euro-African colonial encounter, and its aftermath. The later half of the presentation will particularly focus on the concerns of contemporary African novelists with issues related to human rights environmental concerns and gender equality.

Date & Time: Tuesday, 20th November'18; 10 AM
Venue for all events: St. Andrew's Centre for Philosophy & Performing Arts (SAPP), St. Dominic Road, Bandra West.
