Director Salim Arif will open the Dr. Shankar Shesh Natyosav in Mumbai with ARE MAYAVI SAROVAR in the first week of October 2018. We asked him about his experience directing the play and he said: "I am enjoying the process of shaping this new production. The play had scope for a new look in the context of issues like gender equality and political realignments. The form it has taken is quite interesting and for me, it is a completely new experience. The team of dancers and musicians bring in a theatricality that is adding a lot to the narrative."

Salim Arif is an established Hindi theatre director with several productions to his credit.

He adds: "For the audience that has followed my play productions in the last 17 years, this production will be an interesting follow up to my earlier satires like TAJMAHAL KA TENDER (which still runs to full houses 18 years since it started). It is a very young team of actors with some of them coming on stage for the first time. The infectious charm and energy they exude on stage is a big asset. Also since it is on big stages like St. Andrews and the Royal Opera House, the flavour will be different ...I expect that people who come and watch the show will have an entertaining time....I am also waiting to see their response which so far has always been very generous in applauding my earlier shows."

ARE MAYAVI SAROVAR opens on 1st October 2018 at St. Andrews.
