Review of Romeo and Juliet at Opera House
by Raymond Francisco on Jan 12 2026 3:18AM  (IST)

Went to watch Romeo and Juliet yesterday at the Grand Opera House.
The theatre itself was magnificent — truly grand, historic, and worthy of Shakespeare.
Sadly, what happened on stage was a crime against him.
This was Romeo and Juliet performed by what felt like the worst collection of actors ever assembled in one place, except Juliet (excellent)supported by sound so bad it felt like a personal attack and sets that looked like they were designed during a power cut.
If Shakespeare were alive, he’d rewrite the play just to apologise.
One word sums it up:
CRAP.
