 TUESDAY Review

"All of this on a Tuesday. It was really really weird." TUESDAY is a sci-fi, light, fun and playful in tone. The play centers on an ordinary Tuesday suddenly turns very strange when a tear rips across the sky over the school yard. Not only that, but it starts sucking up pupils and staff while as it invades a whole new group of people. And then parallel worlds collide! Confusion reigns as the 'Us' and 'Them' try to work out what is going on. How are Ash and Magpie identical? Can Billy cope with having his sister back? Who is Franky? Eventually, though, cracks appear between the two groups. As the 'us' here starts to disagree with the 'Them', the race is on to try to get things back to how they were and safely return everyone to the Universe they came from. The play touches on themes of identity, friendship, family, sibling love, dealing with loss of a loved one, and bullying. The students of Institute of Classical & Modern Dance are poised from the very first scene till the end, and put up a show which seems well rehearsed.

There humour, sadness and entry to the imaginary world created by these young performers. In the process, one might just learn something about themselves. The lights and sound add to the performances and lifts it by a notch higher. The costumes are well designed which adds to creating the atmosphere the story is trying to build.
