Today we live in a world of duality. Our daily world is bound by dualism. We all are a reflection of dual nature in many ways, whether in thinking, perspective, choices or preferences. Every day we switch between our many faces and sides, good-bad, subject-object, high-low, negative-positive.

We all breathe in a society which strongly believes in the hierarchy system of various classifications like Boss, Manager, Employee, Clerk, Skilled labour, Unskilled and so on. We are bound by our own mind which tells us what to do and what not to. On the contrary, the mind itself is conditioned by the society that acts as the slave of social, cultural and political situations. We generally use our mind, intellect and logical powers to create something extraordinary.

We as Actors/performers also tend to fall in the trap of mind, intellect and logic either knowingly or unknowingly while designing our performances. Often we see actors deciding each and every step of their performance rather than letting it happen in its own natural course. For example I will count 5 steps from here and this will be my action, motivation, logic, sub-text and so on.

Have you ever thought? Ever imagined? The level of tension it can cause in the body, deciding all this when the only basic requirement for an actor is to be relaxed and be ALIVE in the moment or PRESENT. According to acting teacher Miesner "Acting is living moment to moment truthfully in the given circumstance".

We unconsciously act as the person we admire as an actor, as it is subconsciously created with the help of our intellect or logical perfection of our mind. We never try to listen to our own body where a unique personality is hidden. We approach the characters from outside rather than the insides of us. The truth is that all character exists within us. Inside our own body/apparatus and masters call it actor’s instrument.

As contemporary actor Adil Hussain describes "It's is a method where the active thinking mind withdraws and creativity is allowed to flow seamlessly. Magic happens when you let things happen rather than trying to make them happen."

This one of a kind workshop is all about getting back that spontaneity.
Get back the impromptu freshness as innocent as a child.
Exercise and explore your own instrument, body and emotions.
Reach out to the unlimited possibilities hidden inside you which we sometimes call "Darkness of the body" or the “Dark side of us”.
