Dear All (for example, the cognoscenti, the dilettante, the miffed receiver who has not subscribed to our service, the newly initiated and the many other sub-species of the theatre),

Last week we had briefly informed you about 60 SECONDS DEEP, a new play by Jaimini Pathak's Working Title. The play opens at Prithvi theatre on 16th October and will run till 19th October 2008. The play's preview is now available on our site.

Our other updates include news about a residency fellowship program, which is open to theatre artistes and of a Theatre and Arts Appreciation course that has been organized by the Bangalore based theatre Rang Shankara. The course is open to interested participants from across the country.

Epic Actors' Workshop, an Indian theatre group based in the US recently celebrated the third edition of its South Asian Theatre Festival. Dipan Ray, one of the main organizers behind the festival was in Mumbai last month to promote it. The festival is likely to be held in India in 2009. Dipan Ray was accompanied by Baraka Sele of the New Jersey Performing Arts Centre (NJPAC).

The second edition of the festival was in fact attended by Vijay Tendulkar and this year it had Amol Palekar's active support. The Epic Actors' Workshop's production of Badal Sircar's PAGLA GHODA was in fact directed by Amol Palekar and was part of the festival this year. Dipan Ray features in our Theatre Gupshup section to tell us more about the South Asian Theatre Festival that his group along with other collaborators like the NJPAC have been organizing since the past three years.

More next week...

Cheers,

Deepa Punjani.
