THE SUNSHINE BOYS
Vaudeville actors. For 43 years, Willie Clark (Hosi Vasunia) and Al Lewis (Vishal Asrani) had reigned as 'the Kings of Comedy', their duo popularly known as 'The Sunshine Boys'. Together, they travelled the country with their comic sketches doing stage shows and television appearances, bringing laughter to millions. Forty-three long years in the business, however, took their toll on Al Lewis who chose to retire without warning, leaving his partner Willie Clark stranded in show business. What follows is eleven years of estrangement. This forms the background to the unfolding of the plot.

After eleven years of estrangement, Willie Clark and Al Lewis are set for a re-union for a special appearance on N.B.C. With this chance to bring their old act to television, they have to learn to let go of their differences and get along with each other. Comedy reminiscent of the Vaudeville era is deeply ingrained in these men, making Vaudeville a strong presence in the play. Despite their hatred for each other, what emerges is a mutual love for their profession, for comedy and laughter. Retirement, old age and professional differences fall short of their inherent desire to entertain those around them. Their professional and personal lives are inseparable.
