This week we highlight two interviews:

Chennai based performing artiste, Mathivanan Rajendran talks to Akhila Krishnamurthy. Mathivanan Rajendran is among the new and young generation of theatre artistes in Chennai. Stray Factory, the entertainment collaborative he co-founded in 2010, has been garnering attention. Mathivanan's play MY NAME IS CINE-MA was jointly adjudged the Best Play (it shared the award with another play, WOMAN IN THE CAMP) ) at the Short + Sweet festival in Chennai in July. MY NAME IS CINE-MA has also been selected for the Mumbai edition of the Short + Sweet festival that takes place from August 25 to September 2 at the NCPA Experimental theatre.

After several years, actor Saurabh Shukla returns to theatre with Ashwin Gidwani's production of TWO TO TANGO, THREE TO JIVE. Shukla who has directed the play and also acts in it, talks to Deepa Ranade about his comeback to theatre. The play opens on August 19 at the Tata theatre.

Our other updates for the week include Raell Padamsee's (Ace Productions) workshop, conducted by Shahriyar Atai. The workshop for children will use Charles Dicken's famous novel, Oliver Twist and children will find out about the different characters in it through role play. Weekend plays include Ayeesha Menon's PEREIRA'S BAKERY AT 76 CHAPEL ROAD (English), directed by Zafar Karachiwala, Vasant Kanetkar's LEKURE UDAND ZHALI (Marathi), directed by Vijay Kenkre, Shekhar Sen's KABEER (Hindi), Manoj Shah's APOORVA KHELA (Gujarati). On the occasion of the Parsi New Year, Dinyar Tirandaz presents TAN TANA TAN 3 - a collage of 3 rib-tickling comedies and director Sam Kerawalla presents FRAMJI NI FILM UTRI.

Art meets performance at the Chemould Prescott Art Gallery in Fort, Mumbai. On show are works by the artist, Shakuntala Kulkarni in an exhibition titled 'Of Bodies, Armour and Cages' (August 17- September 15). On August 18, there will be a 15 minute performance at the gallery at 7.15 pm, directed by Sunil Shanbag.
