Inter-College and other one-act play competitions have served as a platform for young talent to exhibit their potential. Astitva's 'Kalpana Ek Aavishkaar Anek' is one such platform which offers opportunities to creative young minds throughout Maharashtra. It urges young performers to think, imagine and execute rather than stage the script of an already established writer.

'Kalpana Ek Aavishkaar Anek' is now in its twenty-sixth year and has been a stepping stone for many theatre groups all over Maharashtra. It is primarily an opportunity for writers to display their talent.

This year; Astitva and Shivaji Mandir auditorium in Dadar, jointly present this event. Shivaji Mandir will support the event as the Venue sponsor. For the first time, the event will also be conducted in Goa.

The competition will be conducted across three locations- Mumbai, rest of Maharashtra & Goa and the final competition will take place in Mumbai. Astitva/Shivaji Mandir in collaboration present the event, which will be jointly organized by Abhinay Kalyan for the rest of Maharashtra and by Rudreshwar Kalamanch for Goa.

The One Act play competition in Marathi will be conducted in October 2012. As the title of the competition suggests, participating writers have to keep the select theme in mind while writing their scripts. The themes for this competition are suggested by eminent theatre people. Earlier themes have been suggested by famous poet, Narayan Surve, and theatre personalities such as Vijaya Mehta, Bharat Saasne, Pradeep Rane, Ratnakar Matkari, Satish Alekar and Girish Karnad.

For this year, the theme has been suggested by acclaimed dramatist and writer, Abhiram Bhadkamkar. The competition demands an original script, which revolves around the theme: "Aamhaas Aamhee Punhaa Pahave" (We must re-study ourselves).
