New Gujarati Plays on the Horizon with Diwali around the Corner

For the commercial Gujarati theatre fraternity, Diwali and the New Year that follows it spell a time for serious business activity. There is news that their audience can be rest assured of a number of plays that are due to premier soon.

Amongst the plays to open in November are CHAGAN MAGAN, TARA CHAPRE LAGAN and TAME AAVYA NE AME KAVYA CHE. The latter is being directed by Mehul Buch and has been written by Imtiaz Patel. Actor Rasik Dave is also going to present his play soon. Touted as a thriller, Dave not only acts in the play but has also written, directed and produced it.

Writer Sanjay V. Shahs new play, directed by Tushar Joshi will see the comeback of actor Dinesh Hingu who has been away from the Gujarati stage for long. Along with him will be seen actors Minal Karpe, Manish Mehta and others.

Over and above these, there are other plays slated to have their opening nights in November and December. Usually there are about at least a dozen and odd plays that open between November and February. Looks like this year is going to be no exception.
