Hindu correspondent Gowri Ramnarayans play on poet Arun Kolatkar to visit Mumbai soon...
A feature writer for one of Indias leading newspapers The Hindu, Gowri Ramnarayan is a woman with versatile interests. Although she started off as a Music and Dance critic, she moved on to write extensively about cinema, theatre and about other literary forms such as poetry. She is equally passionate about cinema and theatre and has been part of a jury of International critics for the cinema called FIPRESCI. She has traveled to many cities to see plays and has also translated two of Vijay Tendulkars plays. She is now very keen to bring to Mumbai audiences her own play, DARK HORSE - Walking Down Arun Kolatkars Lane. The play explores some eleven odd poems of the acclaimed Marathi poet Kolatkar, a recipient of the Commonwealth poetry prize in the framework of Carnatic music. The cast for the play includes Dhritiman Chaterji, a skilled actor who has worked with directors as varied as Satyajit Ray, Aparna Sen, Mrinal Sen and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Mumbai Theatre Guide will carry a detailed synopsis of the play and other related information next week. The play is due to be performed in Mumbai on 26th September at N.C.P.A. and on the 27th at Awishkaar in Mahim. An event not to be missed!
