MTG editorial
Pune based playwright and director Makarand Sathe will stage his critically acclaimed play TE PUDHE GELE in Hindi as WOH AAGE NIKAL GAYE at Prithvi theatre.
Dates:
Prithvi Theatre: 26th & 27th August 2008. (two shows). Time: 9:00 pm for both shows.
The play, which is in line with the theatre of the absurd becomes a metaphor of life that is dominated by the market forces of capitalism in which ruthless competition has become all-encompassing. In a developing country like India consumerism has produced an unprecedented socio-economic divide, desensitisation of the upper classes and further exploitation of the lower classes.
Everybody seems to suffer from a neurotic anxiety. The world is becoming smaller but intolerance and communalism are in fact on the rise. Man is becoming more and more lonely and depressed. One is all the time trying to run harder; to 'go ahead', though not quite knowing where to. All the wealth does not bring satisfaction. But who is bothered about these things in this absurd quest of going ahead?
