For Love Of Water. Directed by Irena Salina. 84 mins/ USA/ English. With the growing scarcity of water and the misuse and misappropriation of water resources, we are compelled to ask, "Who owns water? Is water going to be the oil of the 21st century?" Filmmaker Irena Salina's film Flow : For Love Of Water made over a period of five years asks, "Can anyone really own water?" The film painstakingly builds a case against the growing privatization of the world's dwindling fresh water supply with an unflinching focus on politics, pollution, human rights, and the emergence of a domineering world water cartel. Salina intelligently reveals the rapidly building crisis, at both the global and human scale, and introduces many of the governmental and corporate culprits behind the water grab. The film also gives viewers a look at the people and institutions providing practical solutions to the water crisis and those developing new technologies to prevent its escalation. International Jury Prize, Mumbai International Film Festival (India, 2008) Official Selection, Sundance Film Festival (USA, 2008). Best Human Interest Film, Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival (USA, 2008). Best Documentary, Vail International Film Festival (USA, 2008). Anand Patwardhan 9819882244/ Lynne Henry 9820896425.
