Inter-College and other one-act play competitions have always served as a platform for young talent to exhibit their potential. Astitva's 'Kalpana Ek Aavishkaar Anek' is one such platform, which tries to unearth the abundant store of creative ideas in young minds throughout Maharashtra. In fact it tries to channelize ideas in a certain direction by giving a one-line theme to be developed upon, thus encouraging young writers to write new plays.
'Kalpana Ek Aavishkaar Anek', which is being held every year for the past seven years, has been a stepping stone for many theatre groups all over Maharashtra. It is primarily an opportunity for writers to display their talent. This year the popular event will be conducted jointly by Astitva & the NCPA. The One Act Play competition in Marathi will be conducted in October 2010. The competition has built a reputation for itself and as its title suggests, is based on a theme suggested by an eminent theatre person. Participating writers have to keep the select theme in mind while writing their scripts.
Kalpana Ek Avishkaar Anek's themes have been suggested by well-known people in the Arts such as eminent poet Narayan Surve, theatre personality Vijaya Mehta, the living legendary actor Dr. ShriRam Lagoo, dignified story writer Bharat Saasne, and by other established playwrights such as Ratnakar Matkari.
For the year 2010, the concept is suggested by Marathi Theatre's iconic Satish Alekar.
The theme for this year's competition in Marathi Language and in its English Translation is:
Preface: Under the backdrop of globalization of economy affecting our lives...
Kalpana : "Haves & Have Not in the Society "
