When a brother and father feel compelled to kill their sister and daughter, it does not remain an issue of honour. It becomes an act of crime. Salif Arif's latest production LEKIN...PHIR BHI.... is prompted by the recent spate of honour killings.
Salim Arif's Essay Communications is a forum for theatre and other allied arts in Mumbai. Javed Siddiqi's AAPKI SONIYA, KACHCHE LAMHE and HUM-SUFAR, Gulzar's KHARAASHEIN-the scars from riots, a collage on stage of writings on communal harmony , LAKEEREIN-Lines that alter relationships and ATTHANNIYAAN OF MUMBAI MAHANAGAR,a look at the street life of Mumbai, Salim Arif's GHALIBNAAMA, a concert comprising of the letters and poems of Mirza Ghalib, PEELE PATTON KA BAN, a collection of three monologues are productions which gave this group a distinct identity as a platform for meaningful artistic presentations.
LEKIN...PHIR BHI... has been written by Shah Faisal, and has been directed by Mohammed Nisar.
The play will open at Prithvi Theatre on 20th August at 9 pm, followed by shows at the same venue on 21st August 2010 at 6 & 9 pm.
