JESTER PRODUCTIONS' presents Equus Directed by Daniel Dsouza
Equus is based solely upon the account of a crime involving a 17-year-old boy who blinded 6 horses in a small town near London. Peter Shaffer undertook the task of constructing a fictitious account of what might have caused the incident. The play, written in 1973, tells the story of a psychiatrist, who attempts to treat a young man who has a pathological religious /sexual fascination with horses. The play's action is something of a detective story and in the process he is forced to take a look at his own life and his duty to society as a psychiatrist.
The play is showing at Prithvi Theatre at 9pm on 2 & 3 March 2010.
