Peter Shaffer's EQUUS

Thespo at Prithvi in February presents the brand new EQUUS. The play first staged by students at ITHAKA (St. Xaviers' College English Dept. Festival) last December, received an overwhelming response. The production now returns for city audiences to enjoy.

JESTER PRODUCTIONS' presents EQUUS

Directed by Daniel Dsouza

Equus is based solely upon the account of a crime involving a 17-year-old boy who blinded 6 horses in a small town near London. Peter Shaffer undertook the task of constructing a fictitious account of what might have caused the incident. The play, written in 1973, tells the story of a psychiatrist, who attempts to treat a young man who has a pathological religious /sexual fascination with horses. The play's action is something of a detective story and in the process he is forced to take a look at his own life and his duty to society as a psychiatrist.

The play is showing at Prithvi Theatre at 9pm on 2 + 3 Feb. 2010.

Jester Productions :

A group of young 20 - something's with a mind of their own and a desire to express in the form of theatre - the group was formed with a drive and enthusiasm to try-out something new constantly.

Over the last two years, Prithvi Theatre has tied up with Thespo to showcase the work of new groups.

Says Quasar of Thespo, "Our own journey with theatre started with St Xavier's Ithaka Festival. It is wonderful to see that is still inspiring students. Equus promises to be the first of many theatrical ventures by this highly talented group. It is a must-watch."
