Synopsis: Returning from her honeymoon already desperately bored with her marriage to George Tesman, an aspiring professor, Hedda begins plotting against the brilliant and dissolute Eilert Lovborg, an old admirer of hers and a rival of her husband's for a coveted academic post. Slowly but irreversibly, she begins to find herself drawn into the clutches of the predatory Judge Brack, who is keen on establishing a menage a trois. The situation can have only one outcome...

Enigmatic, headstrong, and manipulative, Hedda Gabler is one of the modern theatre's most iconic figures.

Note on the play: Often referred to as the 'Female Hamlet' Hedda has struck a chord with audiences since the play was first performed over 100 years ago. Audiences across the globe have been shocked, scandalized and profoundly moved by both Ibsen's play and the complex characters. Popular actresses like Eleanora Duse, Alla Nazimova, Eva Le Gallienne and the inimitable Ingrid Bergman have essayed the role of Hedda on screen. Others that have played Hedda on stage include Harriet Walter and Cate Blanchett! Winner of several awards including two Laurence Olivier Awards for Best Revival in 1992 and 2006, Hedda Gabler also won Cate Blanchett the Helpmann Award for Best Female actor in a play, in 2005.
