On popular demand, the NCPA-Pathe Live (Paris) ballet screening of Tchaikovsky's SWAN LAKE is back for another show on Monday, April 22, 2013 at Dance Theatre Godrej at 6.30 pm.
This is an NCPA-Pathe Live (Paris) presentation. The NCPA is proud to associate with Pathe Live (Paris) to bring to Mumbai the opportunity for audiences to experience international ballet productions, while also enjoying a look behind the scenes.
After successful alliances with NT Live and Met Live, now building on its presentation of high quality international screenings, the NCPA and Pathe Live bring world-class classical ballet from the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia to the NCPA screen.
SWAN LAKE by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, was composed in 1875-1876. The scenario, initially in four acts, was fashioned from Russian folk tales and tells the story of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse. The choreographer of the original production was Julius Reisinger. This great ballet was premiered by the Bolshoi Ballet on 4 March 1877 at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, billed as THE LAKE OF SWANS.
