3 Days of the Gujarati Jalso Festival in Mumbai...Enjoy Music, Theatre and Food!

A festival for Gujaratis called Gujarati Jalso is being organized in Mumbai for the first time. The 'Jalso' will have food, music, literature and more. Singer Parthiv Gohil and Stage-Lights Designer Ajit Shah have envisaged this festival. The 'Gujarati Jalso' will be celebrated on 27, 28, 29 September 2013 at the Bhaidas Hall, Vile Parle (West).
Four programmes have been organized to take place over the three days of the festival. On Friday 27, folk songs will be presented, on Saturday 28 there will be glimpses from the Gujarati Theatre, on the morning of Sunday 29, devotional songs- 'Sant-Vani' will be sung and in the evening there will be grand presentation of 'Sugam Sangeet' with more than 30 musicians. The event has been organised with help of Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal and Image Book Culture Trust. The festival's main sponsors are Omved and Zydus Cadila. Its television media partner is ETV Gujarati.
More than 125 artistes are performing in this festival. The Gujarati theatre programme- 'Safar Rangbhoomi' will showcase select scenes from popular old and new plays. Apara Mehta, Archan Trivedi, Abhinav Banker, Ami Trivedi, Utkarsh Mazumdar, Kamlesh Mota, Ketki Dave, Chirag Vora, Jigna Vyas, Dilip Joshi, Deesha Vakani, Dharmendra Gohil, Padma Rani, Parag Zaveri, Manoj Joshi, Manoj Shah, Manasi Parekh Gohil, Meenal Patel, Latesh Shah, Vipul Amrutlal Shah, Sanat Vyas, Sarita Joshi, Siddharth Randeria, Sujata Mehta, Suresh Rajda, Saumya Joshi, Sanjay Goradia and Sneha Desai will participate in this unique presentation. Mihir Bhuta has written the connecting script between the scenes and Vipul Mehta is the director for this event.
A book fair will also be held during the festival. In the adjoining Jashoda Rangmandir, Santaokba Hall compound, "Vangi Vaibhav" will have a variety of delicious food. Live streaming of all four programmes can be enjoyed on www.gujaratijalso.com.
