The DSM is located at the Mumbai Marathi Sahitya Sangh in Girgaum - famous in the 1950s for being the foundry of Marathi theatre practice, and for many years having its own training institute. Under the kind patronage of Dr. Bal Bhalerao, the DSM has been given a home in a theatre which gives its students a chance to train in a real theatre environment in the heart of the city.

The DSM's Background:

The DSM has been started by Theatre Professionals, a theatre training, education, and professional capacity-building organisation head quartered in Mumbai.

Last year's faculty included: Geetanjali Kulkarni (NSD), Padma Damodaran (MA, East 15 Acting School), Yuki Ellias (London International School of Performing Arts, London; École Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq, Paris), Deepal Doshi (MFA, Dell'Arte School of Physical Theatre, LA), Deshik Vansadia (Shakespeare and Co., Stella Adler Acting), as well as highly accomplished Theatre Directors Sankar Venkateswaran (Artistic Director, Theatre Roots and Wings; Theatre Training Research and Practice Institute, Singapore), Daniel Goldman (Artistic Director, Tangram Theatre Company & CASA Festival of Latin American Theatre in London; Andamio 90 School of Dramatic Arts, Buenos Aires; Ecole Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq, Paris), Benjamin Samuels (LISPA, Brown University) among many other faculty members at the DSM.

Each of the faculty members have been trained in or have engaged with some of the best drama schools in the world, therefore lending an unrivalled credibility to DSM even before it has started.
