'Umbartha': One-Act Marathi Play Competition...Final Round On December 10 2014...

Marathi theatre discovers its stars through various play competitions. Umbartha is one such competition that has been hailed by leading theatre personalities like Mahesh Manjrekar, Vikram Gokhale, Kedar Shinde, Bharat Jadhav, Siddharth Jadhav, Arun Nalawade, Pushkar Shtrotri and others. Aspirants from all over Maharashtra vie for the coveted trophy each year.
This year had 41 troupes participating from Mumbai, Thane, Panvel, Borivali, Kalyan, Pune, Nashik and Ratnagiri. The first elimination round was conducted from November 7 - 9 at the mini-theatre of Rabindra Natya Mandir. Novel scripts and technical innovations were the highlights of this year's entries. The judges had a tough time to pick 6 of the 41 plays for the final round. Utkarsh Seva Mandal is the organizer of this competition.
Theatre lovers can catch the crackling finale on December 10, from 9 am at Rabindra Natya Mandir, Mumbai.
