FILTER COFFEE (Shriram & Swarupa) takes you on an audiovisual experience, an idea conceived through their unique brew of music. Textured sounds, hypnotic grooves with the tabla, flutes, Indian classical vocals supported with stunning and abstract visuals.

FILTER COFFEE is an Indian Ethnotronic collaborative brought to life by tabla player/percussionist Swarupa Ananth& flautist Shriram Sampath. Their live performances feature a range of guest artistes across genres providing a new look on Hindustani Classical as they combine traditional tabla/flute and vocals with hypnotic electronic grooves and textured sounds.

Filter Coffee will be collaborating with Jahnvi Shrimankar and VJ Shreya Naik for this performance. While Jahnvi brings in her inimitable vocal style with Bandishes and Alaaps, Shreya Naik aka Plan B will take the audience through a spectacular visual journey with “Filter Coffee” making music for the same.

Their recent collaboration includes works with Asian Underground biggies “Talvin Singh, “State of Bengal & Australian producers “Spoonbill” & “Sampology”. Filter Coffee have just concluded their third UK tour and they are one of the few bands in the country to have played festival stages internationally this year.

SHRIRAM SAMPATH
Bansuri/World Flutes/Music Producer

Shriram is Indian flautist, specialising in playing the Indian Classical Bansuri and has a penchant for experimenting with a variety of flutes from across the globe.

Apart from being a sought after session artiste for Films / Ad / Jingles / Documentaries / TV Serials, Shriram’s recent projects include collaborations/performances with the likes of Talvin Singh and State of Bengal.

One half of Filter Coffee, Shriram creates a unique texture of the flutes by using electronic pedals/processors for live performances and handles other Loops/Electronics on stage. As a Music producer, solidly influenced by multiple music genres, Shriram carves the electronic soundscape of Filter Coffee.

SWARUPA ANANTH-SAWKAR
Tabla | Percussions | Music Producer

Swarupa, a disciple of Ustad Allarakha and Ustad Zakir Hussain, has been playing the Tabla for over 20 years and has been captivating audiences worldwide with her innovative tabla playing and terrific stage presence.

As a percussionist, Swarupa plays the whole gamut of percussion instruments, from the Djembe &Darbuka to the Cajon and Timbale.

The other half of ‘Filter Coffee’, Swarupa is responsible for the hypnotic grooves and is known for her own signature & inventive style of blending beats with fiery Tabla Bols & Konnakoll.

Swarupa has worked alongside Music Director Ram Sampath on his Coke Studio @ MTV episode; Devi, showcasing India’s best female talent. Swarupa was featured as one of India’s finest female Percussionist &Tabla player.

She has performed with & in the presence of stalwarts like Oscar and Grammy winner A.R. Rahman, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Ustad Fazal Qureshi, Taufiq Qureshi, Shankar Mahadevan, Ram Sampath, Sona Mohapatra, Kailash Kher, Hariharan, George Brooks &Salim-Sulaiman to name a few.

Jahnvi Shrimankar (Vocals): -A Powerhouse performer, Jahnvi started singing at the age of 7 and has been trained under legends like Smt. Kaumudi Munshi and Shri Purshottam Upadhyay. Jahnvi brings in an exceptional Blend of Indian Classical and Folk music through her singing and has lent her voice for numerous Bollywood films, TV Serials, Ad Jingles, Theatre and Radio Plays. Having shared stage with Parthiv Gohil, Jahnvi has toured extensively all around the world, featuring in shows like ‘Navras’, ‘Ishq Sufiyana’, ‘Raga Rang’, ‘Raagas to Rock’, in prestigious Gujarati festivals like ‘Kavya Samaroh’ and ‘Gujarati Jalso’.

Jahnvi has been a regular collaborator for the last year and half, bringing her earthy vocal texture to Filter Coffee’s hypnotic grooves.

Shreya Naik (Visuals)

Shreya Naik is a Mumbai based entrepreneur and street artist. Usually hiding behind the console, Shreya creates stunning & hypnotic visuals for live bands which help artistes to take their performances to their next level. Over the years she has lived many lives, an advertising executive, a PR agent, an active music programmer and curator, a talent scout, even as CEO of her own artist management company Dream Makers.

As an artist she ideates and conducts participatory art installations merged with socio-interactive experiments, which provoke people to introspect and change a small part of them through art and thus eventually change the entire world through it.

When she's not doing that she practices the 18th century Italian art of decoupage, she is a Poi spinner, Scuba Diving enthusiast, hula hoop dancer and chai lover!
