Bhisham Sahni penned satirical short stories and some great novels such as Tamas, Madhvi, Basanti, Kadiaand and many more. He played a vital role in spreading political awareness through his work with IPTA.
Kopal Theatre pays tribute to one of our country's best writers. This Bhisham Sahni tribute will stage a few of the writer's short stories such as 'OOB', 'SIR KA SADKA', 'DHOLAK', 'YADDEIN', 'SAMADHI BHAI RAMSINGH', along with snippets of his life.
OOB: This story reflects the 'OOB' (boredom) of a professor in an examination hall, where he has no work and has to sit idle for three hours.
SIR KA SADKA: Every writer has a different view on the position of women in society. In this story Bhishm Sahni talks about a woman called Ishro whose husband has married another woman.
DHOLAK: Marriage is a big occasion in India. But the new generation denies it and wants to do things simply without following the old traditions. Ramdev, the bridegroom is on his nerves with his family and the traditions forced upon him.
YAADEIN: In this tale, an old woman is shown alone in darkness until her friend decides to visit her. For that time that corner lights up with giggles and songs and shadows of memories.
SAMADHI BHAI RAMSINGH: Our country thrives on blind faith. This story is about Ramsingh who goes to a village and starts giving Chirayta (ayurvedic medicine) to everyone for free.
