Pierrot's Troupe from Delhi is going to be back in Mumbai, this time in collaboration with the Yusuf and Farida Hamied Foundation. The group will stage two of its most popular plays: SONS OF BABUR and LAL QUILE KA AAKHRI MUSHAIRA. Both the plays feature noted stage and screen actor Tom Alter who is known for his command over Urdu.
SONS OF BABUR (Urdu - Hindi) will be staged on January 17 at 7 pm. The play is a re-visit to the era and aura of the Mughals. It entertains, informs and educates by dramatising the story and history of India during the Mughal rule. Tom Alter plays Bahadur Shah Zafar. The play has been written by noted scholar and former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid.
LAL QUILE KA AAKHRI MUSHAERA (Urdu) will be staged on January 18 at 7 pm. The play beautifully relives the last mushaira at the Lal Quila before 1857 happened. It, thus, assembles together the tallest of Urdu poets - Zauq, Ghalib, Momin, Dagh, Azurdah, Aish, and of course the then Mughal Emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar, played by Tom Alter.
Director: Dr M Sayeed Alam
Venue for both shows: Rangsharda auditorium, Bandra Reclamation, Bandra (W).
