The National Centre of Performing Arts (NCPA), Mumbai presents the 6th edition of its annual Marathi theatre festival, Pratibimb Marathi Natya Utsav, from 1st - 5th August, 2015. The five- day festival will present new and celebrated works by renowned names in Marathi theatre, television and film.
Deepa Gahlot, Head - Programming Theatre & Films, NCPA says, "Marathi theatre has a longest and richest tradition in the field of performing arts. At NCPA, it is our constant endeavour to preserve every art form across region and language. Pratibimb has been conceptualised to showcase the best of Marathi theatre. Like every year, Pratibimb 2015 will stage a selection of plays that will leave the audience enthralled."
Pratibimb Natya Utsav will begin with '26 52 UNHA PAVSACHI BERIJ VAJA BAKI, a play recalling the seasons of rain and sunshine in an actor's life.
TEPACHU EK TAMASHA revolves around the fundamental principles of society and asks how society will progress if the working class was to vanish.
PAI PAISHACHI GOSHTA features a Maharashtrian housewife who shares the story of her life from pre-Independence times to date, bringing to life a magnificent journey of four generations from a homemaker's point of view.
BIN KAMAACHE SANVAD takes place in the dream of Bhosanka, who while purchasing a new phone enters an alternate reality.
SAMUDRA is the story of a couple, Bhaskar and Nandini, married for a decade, and who embark on a long due vacation to a sea side resort. The romantic getaway, takes a 360 degree turn, when Nandini confesses a past affair.
The plot of TEE revolves around a troubled lawyer who encounters a malevolent spirit.
The festival ends with DON SPECIAL, a play set in 1989. It tells the story of a journalist facing an ethical dilemma.
Along with showcasing the plays, the festival also engages the audiences in post play talks, leaving them with a better understanding of these works.
