THE COMMON MAN, enacted by Ajit Kelkar in a solo performance, supported by audio-visuals, is based on the famous cartoons by RK Laxman. The play will be staged on Saturday, 14th March 2015 at 6.30 pm at the Hall of Culture, Nehru Centre, Worli. This show has been hosted by Udayan.
About Udayan:
Udayan is a cultural organisation associated with the Arts, Music, Dance and Theatre. Udayan is a registered public trust founded by Mrs. Amita Banerjee and like-minded trustees in 1990, devoted to promoting promising artists in music, dance, theatre and the fine arts. Since its inception, Udayan has organised a wide array of cultural programmes ranging from performances by legendary musicians like Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Balamurak Krishna and other vocalists like Shubha Mudgal, Ajay Chakravarty, Qawwali by Gulam Faridkhan Nizami. Prominent amongst the dancers that Udayan has showcased are the Jhaven sisters, Kanak Rele, late Kelucharan Mahapatra and their students.
Udayan's association with theatre also boasts of plays like Satish Alekar's BEGUM BARVE, Feroz Khan's production of SALESMAN RAMLAL, Sunil Shanbag's production of TUMBARA and GOING SOLO- a production by three well-known directors, Rahul Da Cunha, Anahita Uberoi and Vikram Kapadia
