The Phoenix Players, run by husband-wife duo Salim Ghouse and Anita Salim presents 'Still More Life' - solo performances based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe and Mahasweta Devi.


THE RAVEN by Edgar Allan Poe

It has been described as "a requiem to lost love in a futile search for solace & acceptance."

Enacted by Aaryama Salim.

Edgar Allan Poe's stature as one of the greatest and most significant figures in world literature is primarily based on his insightful and profound short stories & poems. He is credited with being a pioneer of the horror story and the inventor of the detective fiction genre.

PANCHAKANYA by Mahasweta Devi

As the pyres of Kurukshetra rage, the communion of the five Dalit women, with their Rajyavrita counterparts invites a reflection of the past and a preparation for the future...The indomitable human spirit triumphs yet again...Life affirms itself!

Enacted by Anita Salim.

Mahasweta Devi is one of India's foremost writers whose trenchant and powerful fiction has won her recognition in the form of the Sahitya Akademi, Jnanpith & Ramon Magasaysay awards. She has also been honoured with the Padma Shree and Padma Vibhushan, for her lifelong social activism among the dispossessed tribal communities & marginalised people in the country. Some of her prominent works are Aranyer Adhikar, Hazaar Chaurashir Maa and Rudaali.
